The Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (“COIDA”) provides for compensation for disablement and/or injuries caused by injuries or diseases sustained or contracted by employees in the course of their employment, or for death resulting from such injuries or diseases.
In an effort to facilitate easy access for claimants particularly the injured workers, the Fund has replaced the old system (UMEHLUKO), and introduced a new one called (COMPEASY).
COMPEASY was launched on 11 October 2019. Because it is a new system which is meant to address fraudulent and invalid claims, it is experiencing few challenges.’
Medical Tariffs increase for 2021 is 5.47%. The fees are applicable in respect of services rendered on or after 1 April 2021.
